Extended Day AssistantA seasonal position for an Extended Day Assistant is available in our After School Program, grades Pre-K to 5th Grade. Between the hours of 2:00pm to 6:00pm M-F during the school year.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesProactively supervise and engage in various assigned activities during all timesInitiate structured activities and games with students, specifically during the rotations outlined in the weekly scheduleCollaborate with fellow staff to ensure smooth flow of daily activities, identifying any challenges and taking the initiative in finding solutionsMake intentional and strategic use of prep time and slow times to plan games, and various schedule priorities (snack prep, clean up, materials ready, projects, special events, etc.)Work with program leadership to analyze and troubleshoot logistical and operational issues including:Active support of pick up and drop off logistics and execution to ensure safe and efficient transitions of campersFree Time and food distribution supervisionStudents' social emotional, safety or academic support needsManage Students Sign-In/OutResponding to parent needsCamp meeting leadership and managementFood distribution and monitoringTo encourage engagement, participate in activities with students, including specialty classes/clubs, free swim, camp meetings, field trips and cheers, etc.Actively facilitate recreational and athletic activities to ensure safety and inclusion for all students.Assist the campers in taking care of all belongings and keeping classrooms and indoor/outdoor facilities clean and orderlyProvide energetic, positive support to all involved to foster a safe, enriching and fun atmosphereBe proactive, flexible and creative in responding to the needs of students, counselors and supervisors; demonstrate willingness to contribute whatever is necessary toward the success of the campBe aware, prompt, and responsive when communicating with staff, students and supervisors on all channels, including, but not limited to; email, walkie talkie, etc.Manage student safety; ensure all students are accounted for and all fellow staff members are aware of student whereabouts throughout the dayReport any unsafe conditions in a timely manner and provide accident/incident reports when necessaryAlert leadership team to any concerns/conflicts amongst the counselor team to facilitate growth and encourage resolution for fellow team membersEnsure the safety of all campers and counselors by understanding and being prepared to implement and/or emergency procedures including:Appropriate boundaries with student/camper/staff populationsEmergency plans i.e. fire, earthquake and intruderall other assigned trainingsCommunicate early and often around all student concerns and information useful toward improving their comfort, care or safetyCommunicate specific needs of all campers regarding food, allergies, injuries, incidents and accidents to Auxiliary Program Director immediatelyProvide conflict-management mentoring and facilitation to students experiencing upset and relational challenges with others in campRespond to parent and children concerns in an effective, resourceful and professional mannerPhysical Demands And Work EnvironmentRequired to walk; stoop, kneel or crouch; reach with hands and armsGenerally, the job requires 10% sitting, 90% walking, and standingThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 poundsClassroom, Playground or Gym work environmentPosition RequirementsCandidates should hold a high school diplomaTeaching experience preferredIndependent school teaching experience a plusCandidates should strongly identify with the School's mission, philosophy, and goalsComfortable working in a collaborative and team-oriented environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills
