The Teaching Assistant will support the accomplishment of classroom and lesson objectives through instructional activities. The Teaching Assistant will also assist and reinforce learning concepts while providing behavioral and classroom management to promote a positive classroom environment. These duties include helping Lead Teachers with basic administrative tasks.Roles and Responsibilities: Provide academic support and instruction based on lesson objectivesFamiliarity with the Lead Teacher’s weekly lesson plans (e.g., ability to support in case of an absence/pull-out)Support Lead Teacher on student performance through such actions as aiding with report writing and recording gradesCollect classroom academic and behavioral dataProvide support with classroom managementAttend mandatory professional development meetings, weekly school meetings and bi-weekly team meetingsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Understand and follow safety proceduresSupport Lead Teacher with instructional aids and plansProvide activities for children that encourage healthy growthProvide a supportive and caring environment for studentsPrepare instructional aids and plansBasic understanding of behavioral principles (e.g., ABA, behavioral data collection, ABC charts, token economy, behavioral modification, etc.)Willingness to learn Collaborative Problem Solving approaches to supporting struggling studentsLevel of Education and Experience: Bachelor or higher preferred in education or related fieldPreference given to those actively pursuing career in educationKnowledge is specific subject matter preferredExperience with students with behavioral and/or learning issues preferred. Experience in early childhood and/or special education is strongly preferred.
