BMS Data Analysis Engineer
Our client is seeking a talented BMS Data Analysis Engineer in Houston, TX to support the development and optimization of advanced battery management systems. This position will focus on analyzing battery performance data, developing scalable data solutions, validating system algorithms, and driving continuous improvement across battery lifecycle management activities. The ideal candidate combines strong data analytics expertise with knowledge of lithium-ion battery systems and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesCollect, clean, and organize data from battery testing activities, BMS logs, and field operations.Develop and maintain data pipelines, reporting tools, and dashboards for ongoing performance monitoring.Ensure data integrity, traceability, and consistency across multiple sources.Analyze battery performance data to identify trends, anomalies, degradation patterns, and operational issues.Conduct root-cause investigations related to battery failures, safety events, and performance concerns.Partner with engineering and testing teams to establish data requirements for validation and verification activities.Provide data-driven recommendations to improve testing methodologies, coverage, and acceptance criteria.Validate BMS algorithms and support enhancements to battery control strategies.Present analytical findings and maintain thorough documentation of methodologies and results.Support quality, warranty, and field service teams through advanced data analysis.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on battery performance and lifecycle management.Required QualificationsMaster's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related technical field.2-5 years of experience in data analytics, preferably within battery systems, energy storage, automotive, EV, or related industries.Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.Experience with data science tools and libraries including NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, and Scikit-learn.Experience with visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, or Matplotlib.Knowledge of lithium-ion battery systems, including:State of Charge (SOC)State of Health (SOH)Battery degradation mechanismsThermal performanceCharging and discharging characteristicsExperience with statistical analysis, modeling, and large-scale data processing.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with machine learning and predictive analytics.Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and distributed computing environments.Experience supporting Battery Management Systems (BMS), electric vehicles, or energy storage products.
