Apply now!JOB SUMMARY The Environmental Services Tech is responsible for thehighest standards possible for the environmental cleanliness, care andwelfare of the patients, visitors and employees of Tomah Health. TheEnvironmental Services Tech performs all general house-cleaning dutiesin all areas of the hospital and is responsible for all general linenduties associated with hospital care to include sorting and delivering.The Environmental Services Tech is also responsible for stockingdepartmental supplies and record keeping for housekeeping and laundryservices. MAJOR JOB FUNCTION 1. Performs all general cleaning of areasassigned. Prioritizes personal assignments and responds in a timelymanner to unit/department requests for housekeeping service. 2. Surveysassigned area to ensure proper sanitary conditions, comfort, cleanlinessand safety of the environment. Reports items and/or areas in need ofcleaning, painting or repair to management. 3. Removes noticeable debrisfrom floors, elevators, etc. in any area of the hospital. 4. Knows andpractices appropriate procedures for cleaning, equipment use and careand hazards. Mixes cleaning solutions in correct dilutions and functionswithin the limitations or hazards of each product. 5. Provides back upand assistance to staff as requested in order to ensure overallenvironmental support. 6. Maintains housekeeping supplies in all areasto include toweling, soap, paper supplies, etc. 7. Evaluates andresponds appropriately to routine page requests. 8. Receives trainingfor, and participates as a member of the hospital decontamination team. Performs other duties as assigned. Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by theability to interface positively with all customers and employees. 3.Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stressand with minimal supervision. 4. Cleaning experience desirable but notrequired. CRITICAL DEMANDS The percentage of the normal workday that theactivity is conducted: 1. Rarely lift 2# from 24\"off the floor to 72\" height to load clean laundry onto shelf. 4. Rarelycarry up to 25# up to 10 feet when carrying garbage and linens. 5.Frequently lift items less than 5# to include general cleaning items. 6.Position requires proper body mechanics to be observed at all timeswhile performing duties. Proper body mechanics includes but is notlimited to proper kneeling/crouching techniques to keep the load closeto the body to minimize back strain. 2. Push/Pull 1. Frequently push andpull up to 20# force of wheeled cart up to 1400 feet 2. Rarely push/pullup to 30# force of a wheeled cart for clean linen up an incline 15 feet. Frequently push/pull of 10# to move furniture for cleaning. 3.Grasping and Handling 1. Continuous manipulation of cleaning tools,cart, laundry, garbage, supplies, etc. 2. Rarely grip up to 60# of forceto mop hard to clean areas 4. Elevated Work 1. Occasionally for cleaninghigher surfaces up to 72\" in height carrying up to 3# cleaning device. Squat 1. Occasionally to pick up items off the floor and clean lowsurfaces. 6. Crouch/Kneel/Crawl 1. Rarely to clean low surfaces. 7.Forward Bending in standing 1. Rarely bend to lift up to 20-25# of linenor garbage in and out of carts. 2. Occasionally bend to lift up to 15#of linen or garbage in and out of carts. 3. Frequently bend to cleansurfaces. 8. Standing Tolerance/Balance/Walking 1. Continuouslywalking/standing up to 2-3 miles/day. 2. Requires good balance skills tohandle use of machines, carrying, lifting and manipulating cleaningtools. 9. Step Ladder Climbing 1. Rarely climb 2-3 rungs in order toremove curtains, clean higher surfaces and wash windows. Varies day today as to length of time. 2. Carrying items less than 3# when using stepladder. 10. Coordination 1. Continuously to manipulate all tools,supplies, machines, etc. 11. Vision 1. Continuous. Must be able toidentify dirty linen, dirty surfaces, debris and ID body substances. 12.Smell 1. Continuous. Need to identify foul odors. 13. Adaptations 1. Itis possible to use a stool or ladder for cleaning higher surfaces ifunable to reach. 2. Considering the various job tasks, it is possiblethat a worker would not have to push the cart for 300 consecutive feet(stopping to clean rooms, pick up debris). 14. Equipment/Clothing Usedto Perform the Job 1. Comfortable clothes and shoes. 2. Gloves, masksand isolation gowns. 3. General cleaning supplies. 4. Scrubber machine. Linen, housekeeping cart. 6. Burnishers. 7. Mopping and dustingequipment. WORKING CONDITIONS Must understand and accept the possibilityof exposure to inside environmental conditions, such asinfectious/communicable diseases, noise, blood and bloodborne diseases,chemicals and/or chemical fumes, odors, gases, and dusts.
