Title / Position: Resort Hosts & Mountain Hosts Position Type: Seasonal, Part-time; Volunteer / Unpaid Reports to: Guest Services Manager, Ski Patrol Director Whether it is on the hill, at the base lodge, in the lift line or in the parking lot, our Resort Hosts and Mountain Hosts provide front line face-to-face interaction and services to our guests. These staff and volunteers help make our guests’ experience that much better and safer by providing necessary information and assistance when it’s needed most. As a member of our Resort Host or Mountain Host programs, you will be positioned in many different areas of the mountain, (depending on the day) keeping this position interesting, active, and with a primary focus on guest safety and quality experience. Summary: Primary responsibility is to provide outdoor customer service, lift pass checking, assistance with parking and unloading/loading at the entrance of our resort, on hill assistance, and safety mitigation. Duties & Responsibilities: Resort Host: (location in base area subject to change day by day) Scan tickets at all operating chair lifts Maze and lift line control Communicate with ski patrol and snow sports to ensure emergencies and lessons are managed in a timely manner in the line Front of lodge greeting and assisting guests with loading/unloading of vehicles Management of traffic in our resort entrance/exit and base area Assist guests on and off shuttle bus Provide guidance to guests and assist navigation around resort to different departments and answer questions Potentially assist with lift evacuation and other lift incidents if needed Other duties as assigned Mountain Host: (In addition to above responsibilities) Positioned at the summit, on the hill, or by the base area Ensure safe skiing/riding amongst guests Provide guidance to guests and assist navigation around resort to different departments and answer questions Maintain high traffic areas and mitigate safety risks in the base area Communicate with ski patrol by radio with any guest safety concerns or incidents Assist ski patrol with end of day sweep of the mountain Provide first aid care to guests until ski patrol or higher qualified emergency technician arrives May be asked to assist Resort Hosts based on the day and staffing Potentially assist with lift evacuation and other lift incidents if needed Attend in service training with Ski Patrol as required Other duties as assigned Qualifications & Competencies: Resort Host: Strong customer service skills Adult Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED certification highly encouraged (Bromley may provide this training based on specified dates) Safety conscious and oriented Must be able to work weekends and holidays Able to withstand extreme cold weather conditions Able to work standing up for extended periods of time Ability to move large maze pieces and ski racks (30-50lb) Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills Flexible in response to changing assignments and working in fast paced environment Must maintain personal appearance in accordance with Bromley standards (jacket is provided for all positions, black pants preferred) Reliable transportation Mountain Host: (in addition to above qualifications) National Ski Patrol – Mtn Host Membership – to be obtained by the individual. Outdoor First Care (OFC) certification – must complete the hybrid online/in person training course with 25 hours of material. This training is provided and sponsored by Bromley Mountain. Health Care Provider CPR (Bromley will provide this training based on specified dates) Advanced intermediate or expert ski/ride ability required Black snowpants preferred A uniform jacket or work vest will be provided to identify you as a Mtn. Host/OFC certified Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no staff supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment: This job operates primarily outdoors in all forms of Vermont winter weather conditions. This position is on snow, on the hill and in the base area, and paved, possibly icy, surfaces in the base area and parking lot. Physical Demands: This is a physically active role requiring several hours of standing and working outdoors. Occasionally indoors as well. You may be asked to assist with shoveling of pathways and spreading ice melt in the base area. When assigned the Mountain Hosting position, this job requires advanced intermediate or expert ski/ride abilities in varying terrain on our mountain. Must be able to comfortably ski in advanced terrain in variable conditions. This position requires 5 x ½ day shifts per calendar month (20 per season) Please communicate if this requirement cannot be met, as flexibility is possible if shifts are made up throughout the season. ½ day shifts are roughly 4 hours each. The ½ day shifts are as follows: Weekday: AM: 8:30 – 12:30 PM: 12:15 – 4:15 Weekend: AM: 8:00 – 12:15 PM: 12:00 – 4:15 No volunteer position is guaranteed and services may be discontinued at any time. Volunteer service should not be used if you are interested in a paid position.
