This role ensures safe, compliant, and high-quality maintenance activities while driving reliability, schedule adherence, and team accountability. The Maintenance Supervisor provides frontline leadership for tech leads and technicians, ensuring rapid response to breakdowns, strong preventive maintenance execution, and adherence to cGMP, OSHA, and internal quality standards. This position serves as a key link between strategy defined by the Maintenance Manager and hands-on execution on the production floor.Operating Schedules:3rd Shift 9:00pm- 5:30amRESPONSIBILITIESEnsure supervisory coverage for the assigned 12-hour shift schedule, including weekends, to support maintenance operations and planned project work.Adjust work schedule as operational needs require, including Saturdays and occasional Sundays, during outages, corrective maintenance, or project execution windows.Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and participate in the work of staff responsible for the preventive activities, setups, inspections, repairs and installation of Thorne manufacturing equipment.Drive accountability and root cause analysis on breaks down to mitigate reoccurrence of failures.Establish schedules, methods, and inspections to ensure all equipment is maintained to maximize production availability, remains in as always designed and/or validated states, and operates in a constant state of inspection readiness in compliance with cGMP requirements.Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance mechanic/technician and machinist duties.Work with Production, Engineering, and Quality on new system installations or modifications.Manage work order and PM process and hold team accountable for following correct process of charging spare parts, timely performing and closing work orders.Monitor spare parts inventory to make sure availability of critical spares and on-hand quantities are consistent.Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside contractors and vendors.Participate in the defining and development of standards, policies and procedures, as well as staffing and capital needs.Promote continuous improvement of 5S, workplace safety, environmental practices, area processes, and waste reduction opportunities.Build and lead a highly performing team, secure the best talent, develop and strengthen staff and future leaders, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.Conduct formal and informal performance assessments of staff, including performance versus expectations and goals, behaviors and leadership potential, and seek the same for self.Actively participate in required training and development programs and electives as suit one’s needs, and support colleagues, trainers, and management as appropriate with these efforts.Keep Maintenance Manager informed of potential maintenance operational risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.Know and follow the Maintenance Department policies and procedures and Thorne Research policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.Promote the Company’s Mission and Values, including an accountable, innovative, and results-oriented culture that promotes customer service, openness, teamwork, mutual trust, and respect.Performs other related duties as assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be able to work in a stationary position as well as move about unassisted for a 10-hour or 8- hour shift, and when necessary, in an enclosed room. Must be able to work while wearing a half-mask respirator or full-air respirator for up to four hours at a time and be able to follow Thorne Respiratory Protection Program guidelines. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as circumstances arise during the course of a shift. Must be able to operate, activate, use, prepare, and clean equipment or machinery, occasionally grasping with force and using twisting wrist movements. Must be able to hear and converse with supervisors and other employees. Must be able to work in a moderate noise level environment. Must be able to move or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds from floor to table and from table to floor.Employees are expected to meet the Physical Demands of their job, which is an essential duty of this job.
