Nursing Success Coach (Part-Time)

Position SummaryThe Nursing Success Coach, under the leadership of the Health Sciences Division Chair, fosters strong relationships with nursing students participating in the Women in Nursing program at Drake State Community and Technical College. This position will assist students in completing postsecondary education and becoming valuable contributors to the workforce.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:The Nursing Success Coachshall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook. TheSuccess Coach and Dual Enrollment Coordinatoris responsible for working closely with faculty, staff, and students, regarding duties relating to student success.Foster meaningful relationships with students to understand and address their challenges.Assist students in setting and achieving academic and career goals.Organize and implement monthly workshops for student participants.Conduct one-on-one meetings with students to provide proactive advising to ensure students meet program requirements and timelines.Contact participants weekly via phone, email, or in person.Assist students with creating and reviewing career action plans.Identify and support at-risk students through early intervention strategies.Provide career counseling to explore career options and develop career action plans.Assist students with resumes, interview preparation, and job search strategies.Organize career fairs, employer visits, and on-campus recruitment events.Host workshops on study skills, time management, career readiness, and other pertinent topics each month.Connect students to tutoring, counseling, admissions, financial aid, and other campus resources.Connect students to community resources.Maintain accurate records of career services activities and employment outcomes of students.Retain and submit documentation as requested to support grant effortsPerform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Health Sciences Division Chair.Job description may be modified or altered at any time by management.QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:A minimum of a associate degree in nursing from a regionally accredited collegeExperience working with low income, high risk or under-represented students.Demonstrated ability to build meaningful, quality relationshipswith students, employees,and the publicComputer Skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and database programsExcellent interpersonal and organizational skillsAbility to problem-solve with appropriate cognitive abilityEffective oral and written communication skillsAbility to prioritize tasks, work effectively, and perform duties through interruptions under tight deadlinesAbility to work independently as well as in a team environmentAbility to be a self-starter and meet deadlinesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's Degree in nursing from a regionally accredited collegeDESIRED PROFILE:Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences andaccomplishments:Outgoing personality who can promote and mentor nursing studentsUnderstanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical collegeSensitivity and commitment to cultural diversityAbility to handle multiple tasks and various situations in a calm and professional mannerCommitment to teaching and learning, where recent high school graduates, adult students, and non-traditional students are involved
