Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU position on a mixed acuity unit caring for medical, oncology, and stroke patients with required drip experience.
Details
Work in a mixed acuity Progressive Care (PCU) and medical-surgical unit in a hospital setting
Care for patients with oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary needs
Patient ratios are 1:5-6 for med-surg and 1:3-4 for PCU patients
Handle drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Insulin and care for post Heart Cath and post pacemaker patients
Expect to see unstable strokes and patients on BiPap
Night shifts, with options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedules
Floating within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital is required
Charting is done in Cerner EMR with prior Cerner experience required
Scrub color is red tops with black bottoms
Requirements
Active IN or compact RN license, or IN temp license in hand prior to start
Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted)
18 months to 2 years of prior RN experience required
Solid neuro experience required
Experience with Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Insulin drips, and post-cardiac procedures is required
Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university
Cerner charting experience required
Local candidates are not accepted except for specific departments

Provide care for a dynamic patient population with both medical-surgical and progressive care needs

All travelers may be required to float within the facility or to affiliate hospitals
Perm or PRN employees of IU must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
