Administrative Assistant -Family Court
Job DescriptionThe Administrative Assistant - Family Court is responsible for assisting the Family Court Deputy Clerk with managing Family Court operations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures.Essential FunctionsProvides feedback to the Deputy Clerk of Court II of any issues.Processes, maintains, files, and distributes Family Court legal records and documents.Performs clerical duties such as typing, maintaining database of recorded documents, and answering phone calls.Secures all interpreters for Family Court hearings for speech impaired or needing sign language. Prepares and processes required documentation for presiding Judge/Interpreter to sign for submission to Court Administration for payment.Processes all office orders for supplies and equipment.Works closely with Procurement and Finance to ensure all purchase orders have been received and paid in a timely manner.Ensures Federal Tax Information is compliant and current per retention schedules.Assists in moving/destroying Family Court case files according to the retention schedule.Keeps abreast of new legislation affecting Family Court.Interacts with various individuals and groups, including Clerk of Court, co-workers, attorneys, Judges, law enforcement agencies, Department of Social Services and the general public. Non-Essential FunctionsAssist in implementing office procedures and policies. Performs all other related duties as required.Qualifications: Education and Work ExperienceAssociate degree in paralegal studies, business administration or other relevant field supplemented by 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible legal experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.Must be a certified Notary Public.Physical RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
