This role ensures smooth clinic operations, promotes a safe and therapeutic environment, and enhances the overall patient experience. The CMA works closely with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nurses, therapists, and administrative staff. Must be AAMA or AMT Certified./ph3Key Responsibilities:/h3pClinical Support:/pulliPrepare patients for psychiatric and medical evaluations, including obtaining vital signs, medication lists, and relevant health history./liliAssist providers with examinations, procedures, and crisis-related clinical tasks within scope of practice./liliPerform routine screenings (e.g., depression, anxiety, substance use) using standardized tools./liliMaintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure infection-control compliance./liliSupport medication management processes, including refill requests, prior authorizations, coordinate labs, and pharmacy coordination./li/ulpAdministrative Duties:/pulliSchedule appointments, manage patient flow, and support front-desk operations as needed./liliDocument clinical encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)./liliHandle patient communications, including phone calls, messages, and follow-up reminders./liliAssist with insurance verification, billing documentation, and completion of required forms./liliMaintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and mental-health-specific privacy standards./li/ulpPatient Care Support:/pulliProvide trauma-informed, empathetic interactions with patients experiencing emotional distress./liliOffer education on medications, treatment plans, and clinic processes under provider guidance./liliMonitor patient safety in waiting and clinical areas, escalating concerns appropriately./liliSupport coordination of care with external providers, hospitals, and community resources./li/ulh3Qualifications:/h3ulliCurrent Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Must be AAMA or AMT Certified./liliHigh school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assistant program./liliCurrent CPR/BLS certification./liliExperience in behavioral health, psychiatry, or primary care preferred./liliStrong communication skills and comfort working with individuals experiencing mental health conditions./liliAbility to remain calm, professional, and organized in a fast-paced clinical environment./liliProficiency with EHR systems and basic office software./li/ulh3Work Environment Schedule:/h3ulliThis is a non-exempt, full-time position./liliStandard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM/liliSome flexibility may be required based on clinic needs or events./li/ulh3In-Service Training Continued Education Requirements:/h3ulliParticipate in all required agency in-service and ADMH trainings/liliCommitment to ongoing professional development to enhance skills and stay informed on best practices in behavioral health./liliCompletion of onboarding and any continuing education requirements as directed by the agency or supervisor./li/ulpPay Range: $16-$18/hr/p/div
