This is a unique opportunity to combine the depth of classroom teaching with the impact of a partnership model-supporting students both within a specialized setting and in inclusive environments.About the RoleThe Teacher of the Deaf - Site-Based is a highly trained educator responsible for leading a classroom serving a cohort of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students within a collaborative school setting.In this role, you will:Provide daily, direct instruction aligned to IEP goals and Massachusetts Curriculum FrameworksCreate a language-rich, accessible learning environmentSupport students' academic, communication, and social-emotional developmentFacilitate meaningful inclusion opportunities within general education settingsServe as a key liaison between CCCBSD and the host schoolThis role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a team-based environment, values collaboration, and is passionate about Deaf education and student access.Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student LearningDevelop and deliver comprehensive unit and lesson plansProvide individualized and small group instruction based on student needsAlign instruction to IEP goals, student data, and curriculum standardsUtilize assistive technology and adaptive tools to support accessMonitor and assess student progress using a variety of methods IEP, Assessment & ComplianceDevelop and implement IEPs, including goals, accommodations, and progress monitoringComplete progress reports and educational evaluations in a timely mannerAdminister and support MCAS and MCAS-Alt assessmentsMaintain accurate and compliant student documentation Classroom & Program LeadershipLead and manage a site-based Deaf Education classroom/programDevelop classroom schedules, including inclusion opportunitiesCreate a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environmentOversee classroom materials, supplies, and organization Collaboration & PartnershipCollaborate with general and special education staff within the host schoolAct as the primary point of contact for the site-based programSupport classroom teachers in ensuring accessible instructionFacilitate peer awareness and inclusion activitiesCommunicate regularly with families and caregivers Supervision & Team LeadershipSupervise and mentor teaching assistantsLead site-based team meetingsPartner with the Director of Outreach on staff support and evaluationCoordinate with interpreters and related service providers to ensure full access Student Support & AccessSupport use of hearing assistive technology (e.g., hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM systems)Promote self-advocacy and social-emotional developmentEnsure students have full access to academic and social opportunities QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityExperience working with children in an educational settingEligibility for a Massachusetts Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) license (or waiver eligible) Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field3+ years of relevant experienceExperience in classroom teaching and IEP developmentKnowledge of assistive technology and communication modalitiesASL proficiency or willingness to develop skills Why Join CCCBSD?Live Our Values. Work takes place in a school-based classroom environment, with opportunities to support students in both specialized and inclusive settings.The role may involve moderate physical activity, including supporting students weighing 40 lbs. or more. Participation in emergency preparedness drills is required.
