Dietetic Technician Lodge Nursing and Rehab

JOB PURPOSEThe Dietetic Technician is responsible for assisting the Dietitian in identifying dietary needs, and the planning and implementation of dietary programs.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for communicating residents' nutritional and/or therapeutic dietary needs to family members/responsible party, staff members and other professionals in a positive mannerResponsible for completing and maintaining a dietary assessment, plan of care and progress notes for each resident as required by the facility and state and federal regulationsAdhere to facility policies and procedures, including infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulationsResponsible for maintaining a calm, supportive and caring environment for residents and staffResponsible for complying with all safety and sanitation procedures including universal precautionsResponsible for attending in-service programs, educational workshops and meetings as required by the facility and statePerform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSMust be a graduate of an accredited college or university with a major in food or nutritionMust be a current registered Dietetic Technician with the American Dietetic AssociationOne year of long-term care experience preferredAbility to follow written and verbal instructions and, to work independently and as a part of a teamAbility to remain calm and cope with the mental and emotional stress of the positionMust be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotional upset and at times, hostile elderlyMust be in good general health and free of communicable diseasesMust have visual acuity and ability to hear, with or without use of prostheticsMust have the physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move intermittently throughout the shift, as well as the ability to climb and descend stairs, use elevator and assist residentsMust have the ability to read, write and speak the English languageWORKING CONDITIONSWorks under the supervision of the Dietician and facility AdministratorSubject to hostile, emotionally upset residents and or family membersMay be required to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays and on other shifts when necessary.
