Surgical Technologist
Job Description:
Vital DiagnosTech is seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join a phenomenal surgical team in Beloit, Wisconsin. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in assisting surgeons and other healthcare providers during surgical procedures. Day-shift, schedule TBD. Sign-on bonus and relocation bonus.
Responsibilities:
Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and sterile.
Assist surgeons and surgical team members with donning sterile attire and maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures.
Anticipate the needs of surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain accurate counts of surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before, during, and after procedures to prevent retained items.
Assist with patient positioning and draping, ensuring optimal exposure and access for surgical interventions.
Prepare and handle surgical specimens according to established protocols, labeling and documenting specimens accurately for pathology examination.
Assist anesthesia providers with patient positioning, airway management, and administration of medications as needed.
Maintain awareness of patient safety and infection control principles, adhering to standard precautions and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with circulating nurses, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and optimal patient outcomes.
Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families before, during, and after surgical procedures, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
Document all perioperative activities accurately and comprehensively in electronic medical records, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training.
Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or eligibility to obtain certification within one year of hire.
Minimum of 1 year of recent experience working as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital or surgical center setting.
Experience scrubbing in for major surgeries including Ortho, General Surgery, OB/GYN, etc.
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing surgical schedules and patient needs.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team.
Commitment to providing patient-centered care with a focus on safety, compassion, and excellence.
Willingness to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support 24/7 surgical services.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure during high-stress situations.
Attention to detail and accuracy in performing surgical technology duties, with a commitment to maintaining sterile and aseptic conditions in the operating room.
