Full Charge Bookkeeper

Job Summary Forrest Tax & Accounting Services is a growing accounting firm seeking an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper to take ownership of client bookkeeping files from start to finish. This is not an entry-level role and not a training position. We are looking for a seasoned professional who can manage books independently, close months accurately, and support tax and payroll operations with clean, reliable financials. If you thrive in structure, accountability, and autonomy and you know QuickBooks Online inside and out this role is for you. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients Maintain and reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly Post and review journal entries (payroll, accruals, corrections, adjustments) Perform month-end close and prepare financial statements Review and correct junior bookkeeping work as needed Ensure accurate chart of accounts and proper categorization Identify and communicate bookkeeping issues or discrepancies Support payroll processing and tax preparation with clean books Assist with cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping projects Maintain organized, audit-ready client files Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online Experience managing books independently through month-end close Solid understanding of payroll journals and basic tax concepts High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision Professional communication skills (internal and client-facing) Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a public accounting or bookkeeping firm Experience managing multiple clients simultaneously Comfort correcting historical bookkeeping errors Ability to mentor or guide junior staff when needed Join us as a Full Charge Bookkeeper and become an integral part of our dedicated team!
