Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Lafayette, Louisiana.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Med Surg / TelemetryDiscipline: RNStart Date: 06/08/2026Duration: 8 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: Jun 8, 2026Length: 8 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring telemetry and cardiac experience, including drip titration and sheath removal skills.DetailsAcute care hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unitPatient diagnoses include chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, DM, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, HTN, MI, renal failure, PE, CHF, GI bleed, and syncope, with potential for med/surg overflow (e.g., sepsis, CVA, COVID+)Specialized procedures include pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), cardiac drip titration (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Heparin), and bedside sheath pullingEquipment used includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacsNight shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)Floating to all other inpatient units is requiredEvery other holiday coverage is requiredSpecific scheduling requests (e.g., block scheduling) cannot be accommodatedRequirementsActive Louisiana RN license or compact RN license requiredCurrent BLS certification (AHA) requiredCurrent telemetry certification requiredMinimum 2 years of RN experience requiredProficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmiasExperience with CABG, chest tubes, post-angiogram, MI, cardiac cath, and sheath removalSkills required: port accessing, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV insertion, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, isolation precautions, and wound care/managementAdditional InformationFirst-time travelers with a minimum of 2 years of experience are eligible for this positionCandidates must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not acceptedAll certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed and discussed during the interview processUpon accepting an assignment, you may be assigned to an Emergency Team by your unit manager, requiring you to remain at the facility or serve on a relief team during an emergency eventAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-708590.
