Fleet Operations ManagerKey ResponsibilitiesManage daily operations of a fleet exceeding 300 vehicles across multiple locationsEnsure optimal vehicle utilization, availability, and lifecycle managementDevelop and implement fleet policies, procedures, and best practicesCoordinate vehicle assignments, replacements, and decommissioningOversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtimeTrack and manage repairs, inspections, and service schedulesMaintain accurate records of all fleet assets, including registration, warranties, and service historyManage vendor relationships with maintenance providers and dealershipsUtilize fleet management systems and telematics platforms (e.g., Samsara preferred) to monitor:Vehicle performanceDriver behaviorGPS tracking and routingFuel usage and efficiencyAnalyze data to identify trends and implement operational improvementsEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, etc.)Manage vehicle registration, licensing, and insurance requirementsOversee driver safety programs, including training and incident investigationsMonitor and reduce accidents, violations, and liability exposureTrack and control fuel consumption and expensesImplement fuel efficiency initiatives and fraud prevention measuresDevelop and manage fleet budgets, including capital expenditures and operating costsIdentify cost-saving opportunities through data analysis and vendor negotiationsCollaborate with external fleet management companies and service providersEvaluate and manage contracts, SLAs, and performance metricsEnsure alignment between internal operations and third-party partnersOversee vehicle acquisition, specification, and upfittingDevelop replacement strategies based on lifecycle cost analysisManage vehicle disposal, resale, or auction processesPartner with HR and operations teams on driver onboarding and trainingEnforce driver policies, including safety, maintenance reporting, and complianceAddress driver concerns related to vehicles and equipmentGenerate regular reports on fleet performance, costs, safety, and utilizationUse data-driven insights to guide strategic decisionsPresent findings and recommendations to leadershipRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)Proven experience managing a fleet of 300+ vehiclesExperience working with fleet management companies or outsourced fleet servicesStrong experience with telematics and fleet software (Samsara preferred)In-depth knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and vehicle compliance regulationsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and fleet management systemsPreferred QualificationsCertifications such as CAFM (Certified Automotive Fleet Manager) or similarExperience in construction, HVAC, or service-based industriesFamiliarity with fuel card systems and maintenance tracking softwareCore CompetenciesLeadership and team coordinationData-driven decision-makingVendor negotiation and managementSafety and risk mitigationBudgeting and financial oversightProcess improvement and operational efficiencyWork EnvironmentCombination of office and field-based workRegular interaction with drivers, vendors, and operational leadershipMay require travel to various company locations
