The position must support the mission, goals, policies and standards of the nursing department to ensure excellence in nursing practice. The position must participate in professional growth and self-development activities to ensure accountability for own professional nursing practice, promote an environment that encourages individual growth and nurtures professional practice, and utilize experience and educational skills to assume an active role in orienting/teaching of staff.Essential ResponsibilitiesConform with and provide nursing care according to the providers orders, in compliance with recognized nursing standards and State/Federal regulationsMonitor patient progress and identify any changes in status, act on changes to insure patient comfort and safetyPerform routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all timesConsult and coordinate with providers and other healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plansAdminister medications and treatmentsAct as a liaison between team and medical staff, nursing, etc.Advise patients on health maintenance and preventative medicineFacilitate teaching experiences for staff and individualsCheck and maintain nursing supplies inventoryCross-train to other departments in order to meet patients, hospital, and community needsOrient and train to charge nurseOther ResponsibilitiesPerform all other related duties as assigned in a professional and responsive mannerDemonstrate the ability to use relevant equipmentSupport, understand, and promote Alomere Health's mission, vision, values, policies and proceduresAbility to meet the work schedule requirements with flexibility dependent upon the needs of the departmentFoster respectful working relationships with professional colleagues, patients, families, and general public regardless of age, gender, lifestyle, culture, beliefs, race, socioeconomic class, or abilityComplete required education timely and within the set deadlinesRequired QualificationsGraduate of one of the following approved professional nursing schools: Two-year Associates Degree Program; three-year Diploma Program; or four-year BSN ProgramActive and current registration/licensure in the state of MinnesotaBasic Life Support CertificationTrauma Training Course- Soonest Available Opportunity or within one year of Hire Date for ICU and Med/Surg NursesStroke Training Courses- Soonest Available opportunity or within one year of hire for any nurse caring for a Stroke PatientInternal Applicants-Must currently be scheduled a majority of shifts on Medical/Surgical/Pediatric and be proficient at Medical/Surgical/Pediatric skills. Will not be combined with other positions.
