SCADA Software Engineer

Control Systems Engineer Location: New York City, NY Compensation: W2 Salary Target: UP to $160,000 1099 considered Responsibilities: Develop, support, and modernize OT network architecture used by SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, engineering workstations, and field control assets. Maintain and optimize SCADA server environments, including virtualization, data flow pathways, historian connectivity, and interface communication. Troubleshoot communication faults involving Siemens S7‑1200/1500, TIA Portal networks, WinCC / WinCC OA, and distributed HMI/PLC architectures. Establish and maintain high‑reliability connectivity for field devices, remote I/O, operator interfaces, and telemetry endpoints. Integrate and support HMI/SCADA platforms: Siemens WinCC, iFix, Ignition, FactoryTalk View, and related technologies. Apply OT‑specific security standards such as segmented control networks, access zones, jump hosts, and industrial DMZ practices. Utilize and configure industrial communications (e.g., Modbus TCP, Profinet, OPC UA) within mixed SCADA/PLC ecosystems. Deliver hands‑on root‑cause analysis across the full stack: Server → Switch → VLAN → PLC → HMI → Field Device Participate in emergency response and incident restoration for 24/7 operational environments. Required Background 5+ years of experience working within SCADA, ICS, or OT environments in utilities, transit, industrial, or manufacturing settings. Practical, hands‑on skill with Siemens PLCs (S7‑1200/1500), Profinet networking, WinCC communications, and TIA Portal I/O networks. Experience supporting or integrating automation systems, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA servers, and historian pathways. Strong understanding of industrial Ethernet, VLAN segmentation, and managed industrial switches (Stratix, Cisco IE, Moxa, Hirschmann). Familiarity with industrial protocols: EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, Profinet.
