Communications Coordinator

Title: Communications Specialist Purpose: The Communications Specialist is a dynamic and versatile storyteller who will craft engaging, accurate, and impactful content that elevates the voice of WeGo Public Transit. This role supports both internal and external communications, develops compelling newsletters, assists the Public Information Officer (PIO) with agency-wide messaging, and ensures all communications reflect our brand, values, and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, a keen editorial eye, and the ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences across multiple platforms. Reports to: Communications Manager Key Responsibilities 1. Content Development & WritingWrite, edit, and produce engaging content for newsletters (internal and external), announcements, and campaignsSupport the PIO in crafting, refining, and delivering clear, consistent messaging for the agencyReview, proofread, and edit current messaging to ensure accuracy, clarity, and brand alignmentDevelop content for multiple channels, including email, print, website, and social media.Tailor communications to reach and resonate with varied audiences, from employees to community partners 2. Strategic Communications SupportCollaborate with the Communications team to ensure all messaging supports agency goalsAssist in preparing talking points, press materials, and stakeholder communicationsProvide editorial guidance to maintain brand voice, tone, and style consistencyMonitor and evaluate communications for clarity, engagement, and impact 3. Internal EngagementPartner with departments to gather stories, updates, and information for internal communicationsPromote employee engagement through creative, informative, and inspiring messagingSupport initiatives that foster a connected and informed workplace culture 4. Other DutiesAssist with events, campaigns, and outreach efforts as neededObtain estimates from printers and other specialty advertising companies and complete appropriate internal paperwork for purchase orders, processing invoices, etc. as neededMaintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionallyPerform additional communications-related duties as assigned by management Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related fieldMinimum of three years of professional writing or editorial experience (preferably in a public-facing communications role)Experience with newsletter production and website content management systemsKnowledge of AP Style and best practices in professional communications Skills & Abilities:Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skillsStrong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlinesExcellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teamsAttention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, polished communicationsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and various email distribution services; familiarity with design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) a plus Classification under Fair Labor Standards Act: Exempt
