With more than 200,000 people living in the metropolitan area, it is an active, exciting and engaging community, boasting cultural and historical events, music, festivals and entertainment.Position DescriptionThe Department of Chemistry and Physics at West Virginia State University invites applications for an Instructor of Chemistry position to join the department in the Fall 2026 semester. This is a full-time, 9-month position. The full-time instructor is expected to teach 15 credit hours per semester. The candidate should have the ability to teach undergraduate 100-level courses in consumer chemistry, general chemistry labs and nursing chemistry as well as other 100-level courses assigned by the chair.The Department is housed within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics which offers graduate programs in Biotechnology and Computer Science and undergraduate degree programs in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering (Civil and Chemical majors), and Mathematics.For questions, please contact the department chair at mahinda.ranasinghe@wvstateu.eduResponsibilities for the instructor in chemistryThe successful candidate will teach 15 credit hours per semester of undergraduate 100-level courses in chemistry, advise and mentor students, and serve on departmental and university committees.Requirements for the instructor in chemistryCandidates must hold a MS in chemistry or higher degree by the time of appointment.
