Lab Manager – Electronics Lab
DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Lab Manager with strong organizational skills and expert-level soldering capabilities, particularly in BGA rework and reballing. This part-time contract role requires someone who takes ownership of their work and can demonstrate a proven track record in lab management. The ideal candidate will bring structure, accountability, and hands-on technical excellence to our lab environment.Schedule: 4 hours per day, 5 days per week (20 hours/week)DutiesManage day-to-day lab operations, including equipment, inventory, and workspace organizationPerform precision soldering and rework tasks, including:BGA (Ball Grid Array) rework and replacementBGA reballing operationsFine-pitch component soldering and reworkMaintain lab equipment, tools, and workstations in optimal conditionEstablish and enforce lab organization standards and proceduresTrack inventory of components, consumables, and equipmentCoordinate with engineering teams to prioritize lab tasks and support project timelinesDocument lab processes, procedures, and work completedTake ownership of lab cleanliness, safety, and efficiencyRequirementsDemonstrated lab management experience with specific examples of previous lab oversight rolesExpert soldering and rework skills, specifically:BGA rework (removal and replacement)BGA reballing techniquesMust be able to demonstrate skills during a practical assessment following virtual screeningStrong organizational abilities with attention to detail and a systematic approachProven job history showing stability and progression in similar roles (this is not an entry-level position)Ability to take ownership and work independently with minimal supervisionStrong communication skills for coordinating with engineering teamsPreferred SkillsLinux system experience (the more experience, the better)Proficiency with rework stations (hot air, IR, etc.) and reballing equipmentExperience with lab inventory management systemsIPC certification (IPC-7711/7721 or similar) for rework and repairCompensation$46.56 – 51.72/hr W—2Req ID6446
