Assistant County Administrator

Monongalia, WV is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Assistant County Administrator to help lead operations across all departments and support the County Administrator in delivering high-quality services to our residents in collaboration with other County Elected Officials.
This leadership role provides hands-on involvement in budgeting, finance, many other areas of operational oversight, compliance, strategic planning, and countywide initiatives. Work is performed under the general supervision of the County Administrator and requires a high degree of initiative, independent judgment, and confidentiality. The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work both independently, and collaboratively in a team environment. What You’ll Do:
Support all county operations and serve as an acting County Administrator when needed
Help manage the county’s operating and capital budgets
Coordinate departments to ensure compliance with WV Code and county policies
Lead special projects, strategic planning efforts, audits, and performance improvement programs
Draft reports, ordinances, resolutions, and policy recommendations
Serve as liaison with elected officials, departments, community partners, and residents
Assist with labor relations, employee relations, and grant administration
Support emergency response and continuity planning
What You Bring:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration/Management, or related field
5+ years of progressive management experience in a dynamic work environments
Strong leadership, communication, analytical, conflict resolution, finance, and organizational skills
Proficient in technical capabilities, including Microsoft Office applications, especially with Excel, and other software applications
Demonstrated effective and efficient project and team management experience.
Preferred:
Master’s degree (MPA or similar)
County, municipal, or public sector government experience
Budget, labor relations, and grant management expertise
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary is commensurate upon qualifications and experience level
