Position Overview: As a Retail Security Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for team members and customers. By maintaining a visible presence at store entrances and on the sales floor, you will help mitigate theft and fraud while providing outstanding customer service. Greet customers warmly and maintain order throughout the store, fostering an atmosphere of safety and attentiveness. Key Responsibilities:Safety and Security: Prioritize safety in all actions and support store leadership in maintaining security for associates and customers. Visible Presence: Create a welcoming atmosphere by greeting customers at entrances/exits and patrolling the sales floor in uniform, while remaining alert to potential safety or theft issues. Emergency Preparedness: Keep pathways clear and ensure easy access to emergency exits. Customer Engagement:Provide exceptional service by welcoming shoppers with eye contact, smiles, and friendly assistance. Treat all individuals with respect, maintaining courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism in every interaction. Engage with team members and external partners to enhance teamwork through effective communication and recognition initiatives. Assist in other duties to support loss prevention efforts as needed. Professional Representation:Uphold and endorse the company brand in every aspect of your work. Maintain a neat appearance that aligns with the company dress code. Loss Prevention:Monitor entrances, exits, and the sales floor for signs of theft, reporting suspicious behavior to leadership. Utilize information to assess theft trends and communicate findings effectively to management. Follow company guidelines for addressing incidents of theft. Implement practices to enhance productivity by reducing unnecessary movements while working. Reducing Operational Shortage:Promote awareness of best practices to minimize shortages and train associates in loss prevention initiatives. Ensure adherence to checkout procedures among associates and customers alike. Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred. One year of retail supervisory experience or relevant training preferred. One year of loss prevention/security training is desirable. An active security guard license is preferred. Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment effectively. Strong communication skills and excellent customer service abilities. Proven conflict resolution skills. Compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations for security positions, including potential background checks and physical exams. Physical Requirements:Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. Must be able to stand and move throughout the store for the entirety of the shift. Ability to lift or lower items exceeding 25 lbs. as needed. Capability to bend, stoop, or crouch as required for daily operations.
