Middle School Certified Special Education TeacherMiddle School Certified Special Education Teachers at Meeting Street Schools are strong teachers who deliver targeted, purposeful, differentiated instruction to students who need support with accessing grade-level materials. Support for students will range across grade levels and content areas. Student achievement will be measured through progress monitoring against grade-level standards; thus, teacher success will be measured by student achievement. By providing individualized academic support, Special Education Teachers play a pivotal role in ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.ResponsibilitiesApplies deep content and pedagogical knowledge to move students closer to grade-level proficiencyCreates engaging, rigorous lesson plansImplements robust, outcome-based intervention plans that sequence and scaffold learning to maximize student access to grade-level standardsLeverages the collective understandings of the multidisciplinary/MTSS team to increase student outcomesUses data from student work, assessments, and observations to refine interventions and supportPerforms all other duties as assigned by the supervisorSkills and CharacteristicsA commitment to the mission and core values of Meeting Street Schools and an unwavering belief that all students can and will succeedA deep love of content with an achievement and outcomes orientationStrong instructional and classroom management skillsHigh level of personal organization and planningDesire to master content and enthusiasm for subject matterAbility to inspire, motivate, and engage childrenEducational Background and Work ExperienceA bachelor's degree is requiredA South Carolina Special Education Certification is requiredA minimum of two years of homeroom teaching experienceStrong instructional skills, demonstrated through proven academic outcomes as a classroom teacherExperience and/or certification in Orton-Gillingham instructional methods is preferredCompensation and Benefits:The starting salary for the Middle School Certified Special Education Teacher is $69,000, and is commensurate with experience.
