Together, we create our culture by living our values in our day-to-day interactions with our patients and teammates.Job SummaryThe Environmental Services Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and directing the daily operations of the Environmental Services (EVS) department. This role ensures a safe, clean, and sanitary hospital environment by developing and implementing departmental policies, monitoring cleaning practices, coordinating with infection prevention, and managing staff. The Manager promotes continuous improvement through innovative methods and ensures regulatory compliance and service excellence standards are upheld.Essential FunctionsOversees daily operations and supervises EVS staff performanceMonitors cleaning activities, including patient areas, public spaces, and procedural areasPartners with Infection Control to ensure effective sanitation proceduresConducts facility inspections and submits maintenance requests as neededManages supply inventory and orders to support operational efficiencyCoordinates with linen service vendors to ensure timely and adequate linen supplyEnsures proper handling of general and medical waste and seeks process improvements to reduce waste generationProvides staff education on safety standards, infection prevention, and equipment usagePromotes adherence to the organization's compliance policies, including HIPAA and Joint Commission standardsDevelops and implements departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiativesConducts employee training, evaluations, and performance development planningParticipates in budget planning and cost control activities for the departmentEnsures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulationsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsKnowledge of healthcare cleaning standards and safety regulationsStrong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to train, evaluate, and motivate a diverse teamEffective verbal and written communication skillsFamiliarity with infection control, waste management, and linen servicesBasic computer proficiency, including scheduling and reporting systemsQualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent, including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role (required)Bachelor's Degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field (preferred)Licenses/CertificationsNone required upon hireExperienceFive (5) or more years of environmental services experience (required)Five (5) or more years in a supervisory or management capacity (required)Job Field: Plant Ops./Dietary/Materials Mgmt.Organization: 0492 - Vaughan Regional Medical CenterShift: Day
