This is not your typical role - we're building the platform that builds the products.Healthcare apps share a lot of the same DNA - appointments, care plans, status tracking, forms, communication, reporting. The challenge is in allowing for workflow customization without sacrificing developer productivity or runtime performance.We're looking for Senior Engineers to help define and build the service-oriented architecture that powers this platform, in collaboration with in-house SMEs, product, and design partners.What You'll Be DoingDesigning and building core platform services in Node.js / NestJS, focused on performance, modularity, and long-term maintainabilityModeling complex domains in PostgreSQL, using sound data architecture principles (BCNF/3NF) to power customizable healthcare workflowsCreating internal tooling, APIs, and libraries that accelerate product teams and enable safe, scalable customization across applicationsCollaborating across product, design, and clinical teams to shape platform capabilities that directly support real-world healthcare use casesEnabling front-end teams to build high-quality applications by providing reliable, well-documented service interfaces and reusable UI primitivesBalancing short-term delivery with long-term vision, making tradeoffs explicit and optimizing for developer velocity, product agility, and platform consistencyDriving platform adoption by aligning evolution of internal tools with the needs of product and solution delivery teamsWhat We're Looking For8+ years of engineering experience, with a strong background in platform or internal tools developmentDeep experience with:Node.js + NestJSPostgreSQL (including strong data modeling skills)React (used in the context of platform UI libraries and applications)Strong cross-functional collaborator: You live and breathe platform engineering, and you evangelize the power of a well-built platform.Strong systems thinking: you've built frameworks, SDKs, design systems, or internal platforms that scaleA pragmatic, product-oriented mindset - you're focused on empowering other engineers through elegant abstractionsDemonstrated product sense: understands user needs (internal teams), avoids overengineering, and builds with a clear value propositionComfortable building and owning services in a service-oriented architectureThe strongest candidates have:Experience in healthcare, workflow engines, permissions/RBAC systems, rules engines, or multi-tenant architecturesExperience maintaining a fleet of applications built on a common platformPrevious Product Management experiencePrevious consulting or external customer facing experienceNice to HaveExperience migrating mission-critical systems onto a new architectureFamiliarity with Domain Driven DesignPrevious Python development experienceWhy Join Us?Work on important, meaningful problems in healthcareShape the foundation of a platform that will power dozens (eventually hundreds) of applicationsCollaborate with a team that values design, pragmatism, and velocityCompetitive compensation, equity, and full benefitsCompensation DisclosureThe anticipated base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $190,000 in the Los Angeles market.
