Lead Mechanical Engineer

Job DescriptionLeads large projects or processes of complex scope, with limited oversight from manager.Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower-level professionals.Assists in the development of operational plan and implements for areas of assigned responsibilities.Identifies continuous improvement/automation activities.Determines method of research for the planning, design development and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, and/or machines.Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.Manage multiple ongoing projects on time on schedule and subject matter expert supporting manufacturing plants.Qualifications:Required: Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree MUST HAVE BSME; or 6 years and a master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experiencePreferred: PMP CertificationWhat are the 3-4 non-negotiable requirements of this position?We can only relo someone to Nashville, TN. If a candidate is located near one of the cities listed they could possibly work from there as their home base. ***MUST HAVE BSME*** 50-65+% travel at all times Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field; or 6 years and a master's degree. Preferred Qualifications: PMP Certification Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Works, and Inventor Proficiency in Machine Design, specifically US Standard (ANSI & NFPA), PFMEA Analysis, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Design, Variable Frequency Drives, Servos, Gearboxes, ConveyorsWhat are the nice-to-have skills?Experience in: - Pressure vessels - Tire Uniformity - ASRS - Robotics - AGVsDescribe how this position fits in your organization.The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be a part of our Corporate Engineering function, otherwise known as Process Systems Development (PSD). The PSD team works cross-functionally with safety, production, and plant engineering across our tire manufacturing site locations in North, Central and South America. The Lead Mechanical Engineering position researches, plans, designs and develops, and implements/installs mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. A Lead Professional position is a recognized subject matter expert in a job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Problems faced are difficult and often complex. Requires periodic communication and interaction with leadership. 6 - 10+ years of design and manufacturing engineering experiences. The ideal candidate will be located in Nashville, TN.
