AAR constantly searches for the right thing to do for its customers, employees, partners and for society.Description:Welder III: Performs a combination of Gas tungsten arc welding, GTAW and/or TIG welding on aircraft parts. Processes to fabricate or repair parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys. (TIG welding experience is required)What you will be responsible for:Determines and installs applicable welding materials based upon parent metal propertiesStrikes (forms) arc to melt line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld and size of molten puddlePerforms minor repair operations, including helicoil installation, flushing, grit blasting, vapor degreasing, repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes, chipping off excess weld, slag and spatter, etc., utilizing basic machining equipmentPrepares broken parts for welding by prepping surfaces per standard practicesPreheats work piece with hand torch or heating furnacePositions and clamps work piece together to assemble them in jig or fixtureTacks assemblies togetherApplies filler rod manually to supply weld metalWelds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positionsExamines weld for bead size and other specificationsContinuously pursues lean initiative toward process improvementsMaintains minimum 80% billable efficiencyQualificationsThorough knowledge of:o Microsoft Office Basicso ASW D17.1Skill to:o Read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprintso Read standard gauges and other measuring deviceso Operate basic machining equipmento Learn industry-related softwareSpecial Requirements:Minimum certification to include Material Groups IIa (stainless steel), IV (aluminum), V (magnesium), 4130 (Steel) and Inconelo Obtain respiratory certification and wear a face respiratoro Successfully pass annual regulatory vision requirements
