1st Choice is seeking a compassionate and skilled Bilingual Dental Assistant to support a public sector community health dental clinic providing essential oral health services. This clinic serves a specialized patient population and plays an important role in ensuring patients receive safe, accessible dental care in a supportive clinical environment. In this role, the Dental Assistant will support dentists in delivering routine dental care while also assisting with administrative and inventory-related tasks that help keep clinic operations running smoothly. The Dental Assistant will regularly interact with patients, providers, and clinic staff to ensure an organized and patient-focused care experience. Many patients served by this clinic are Spanish-speaking, and bilingual staff play an important role in supporting clear communication and quality patient care. This opportunity is ideal for a dental professional who enjoys working in a public health setting and supporting community-focused healthcare services. Work Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM· Plus one additional weekday (Tuesday or Thursday — candidate choice) supporting clinic administration, supply inventory, and operational tasks. The clinic does not see patients on Tuesdays or Thursdays, so this day will focus on administrative and inventory support. Location: Silver Spring, MD 20902· The clinic provides dental services for patients living with HIV and follows strict infection control and clinical safety protocols. Responsibilities:· Assist dentists during chairside procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and treatment areas.· Prepare patients for treatment and help ensure they are comfortable throughout their visit.· Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with safety standards.· Maintain proper infection control and follow all sterilization and safety procedures.· Clean and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.· Provide patients with general oral health and post-treatment instructions as directed by the dentist.· Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.· Assist with scheduling and confirming appointments as needed.· Maintain dental supplies and assist with clinic inventory management.· Support administrative and operational tasks on designated clinic support days.· Perform additional duties as needed to support clinic operations. Skills Required:· Knowledge of dental assisting procedures and chairside techniques.· Ability to operate dental equipment and perform dental radiography duties safely.· Understanding of infection control and clinical safety procedures.· Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.· Ability to work effectively with patients, providers, and clinic staff in a healthcare environment.· Comfort working in a community health clinic setting.Requirements:· Fluency in English and Spanish required.· Dental Radiology (X-Ray) Certification required. Certification must be valid for dental radiography practice in the State of Maryland.· Ability to successfully pass required background investigations, including criminal history review, sex offender registry screening, and drug screening.· Completion of required health and credentialing documentation prior to start. Credentialing & Health Screening Requirements: Candidates must complete the following credentialing and health screening requirements before onboarding: • License or certification verification (as applicable) • CPR or BLS certification • MMR vaccination documentation (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) • Hepatitis B vaccination records, if available • TB screening (one of the following required): ?• Chest X-Ray within the past 5 years, or ?• Valid TB skin test (PPD) within the past 12 months Candidates are responsible for any required medical screening expenses unless otherwise specified. Qualifications: Dental assisting experience preferred.· High school diploma or equivalent required.· Completion of a dental assistant training program is preferred; however, formal Dental Assistant certification is not required.
