Job Description:GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Director of Student Support Services manages the Student Support Services TRiO program at Cameron University. The director is responsible for the administration and oversight of program and personnel that ensure the efficient, equitable, and student-centered delivery of program services. This position supervises full-time and part-time professional and classified staff. The Director of Student Support Services reports to the Director of Sponsored Programs.RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities of the Director include, but are not limited to:ComplianceMaintain knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations as connected to postsecondary education, the federal Department of Education, and the TRiO program.Develop and manage budgets in alignment with federal program guidelines and university policyCollect and analyze program evaluation data and submit annual performance reportAssess program activities and participate in the university assessment processAssist with the submission of federal, state, and institutional reports as requiredWrite program grant proposalsManagementPerform all appropriate administrative duties including, but not limited to, budget maintenance; personnel hiring, development, and evaluation; and departmental assessmentOversee and assist in the coordination of student recruitmentGuide staff in developing activities that best serve students as they overcome barriers to postsecondary education successWork with advisors to monitor the progress of studentsOversee and assist the two tutorial lab directorsServiceEnsure that program participants are served efficiently, with courtesy and respect in compliance with federal regulationsParticipate in staff development programming and campus functions, and serve on University committeesAssist program participants to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, as necessaryCorrespond with program participants offering advice, resources, or referral to other campus resourcesPerform other duties as assignedCollegialityProfessionally and efficiently execute Cameron University's commitment to student successWork collaboratively with campus and community stakeholdersAssist students and supporters with accessing resources to make college attendance affordableProvide presentations relating to program opportunitiesAdvise the Director of Sponsored Programs on matters related to program performanceStaff SupervisedAssistant Director (1)Academic Advisor (2)Administrative Assistant (1)Writing Lab Director (1)Math Lab Director (1)Student Workers/Tutors (multiple)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree required in higher education, psychology, or related fieldsThree (3) to five (5) years' experience in higher educationFive (5) years' administrative experienceBudgeting experiencePrevious work experience in TRIO or related programsBackground in successfully overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the project's target populationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Previous experience with federal grant writing and/or implementationExperience working with diverse and varied student populations including low socioeconomic status (SES), first generation, and other populations impacted by barriers to participation in higher education.Two years of experience in higher educationExperience working with student information and/or case management softwareThree years of administrative and supervisory experienceSALARY RANGE: $45,000INSTITUTION: Cameron University (www.cameron.edu) is a state-supported regional institution located in Lawton, Oklahoma, that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees.
