OverviewThe Shipping Manager provides general department management in the area of warehouse and delivery operations and fleet management. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the department while maintaining a high level of customer service and meeting budget requirements. Assists and develops direct reports to achieve desired results. Direct responsibility for all department employees to ensure proper orientations, training, development, compensation and working conditions are present.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage shipping performance, including shipping percentages and backordersManage logistics performance, including shipping percentages, delivery metrics, and backordersOversee all logistics compliance requirements, including maintaining DOT filesManage budgets and control logistics-related costs across delivery and warehouse operationsNegotiate logistics pricing for freight, leases, shipping materials, and suppliesOversee loading, transportation, and delivery of products to dealers, contractors, and job sitesCoordinate and schedule logistics and delivery activities to optimize loads, reduce labor hours, and exceed customer expectationsMaintain Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance filesOversee department budgets and control costs for delivery and warehouse operationsNegotiate pricing for freight, leases, shipping materials, and suppliesSupervise loading and delivery of products to dealers, contractors, and job sitesCoordinate and schedule deliveries to optimize loads, minimize labor hours, and exceed customer expectationsReview paperwork to plan work activities, assign personnel, and balance delivery loadsManage expense accounts for department personnelSupport the order fulfillment process by working closely with inside sales, production, customer service, and credit teamsParticipate in leadership development programsCreate and execute Master Production Schedule (MPS) plans, meet commitments, and work within established guidelinesGuide, motivate, and develop team members to maintain high performance standardsEnsure strict adherence to all safety policies and proceduresLevel of SupervisionDirectly supervises Delivery and Warehouse teamsMay include oversight of Shipping and Receiving personnelExperience RequiredMinimum of 7–10 years of related logistics or distribution experiencePrior supervisory experience in logistics and employee management requiredStrong knowledge of delivery operations, DOT regulations, and distribution legalitiesInventory control experience preferredEducation, Licenses & CertificationsBachelor’s degree requiredEquivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degreeEssential Abilities & SkillsAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishStrong sense of urgency and self-motivation with the ability to work independentlyProven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlinesHigh level of computer literacy and ability to learn new software systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills with attention to detailOutstanding customer service orientationJob Type: Full-timeBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceExperience:shipping management : 3 years (Preferred)RFQ: 1 year (Preferred)Manufacturing: 3 years (Preferred)Glass Industry : 1 year (Preferred)
