Special Education Program Facilitator

Job Title: Special Education Program Facilitator Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree required.Mild/Moderate, Severe/Profound, or other Special Education area3 or more years of special education experience preferredKnowledge of state and federal laws/regulations and best practices related to special educationKnowledge and experience with strategies, curriculum, and assessments utilized for special education programsKnowledge and experience in classroom management/behavior strategies and secondary transitionExperience and skills to provide staff development in special education areas and topics.Evidence of leadership within the school and/or districtReports to: Executive Director of Special ServicesPerformance Responsibilities:Support the district in the development and implementation of special education programsSupport the district and staff in IEP development, including but not limited to IEP goals, services, assessments/alternative assessments, progress monitoring, transition assessments, and functional behavior assessments/plans as appropriateMonitor the District's programs to ensure compliance and best practices are implementedFacilitate and support district staff on effective practices, including behavior supportsConduct professional development as appropriateProvides resources, training, and support regarding transition assessments and activitiesDevelop, support, and help to organize the ESY program. Teach ESY as assigned.Support district compliance in areas such as Child Count and District Data reportAssist with placing students in appropriate interventions and/or district programsIdentify needs associated with district programs and make recommendations as appropriateMaintain an awareness of current research, trends, and legal aspects of special educationHelp to retain and recruit certified special education teachers, teacher assistants, and staffNetworks and/or act as a liaison between various community programs and state agenciesCollect data, analyze results, and report findings as appropriateDemonstrates leadership within the Special Services DepartmentMeet with the Special Services Department/Executive Director of Special Services as requiredOther duties as assigned, including serving as caseload manager as neededPerforms other duties, as assignedTerms of Employment: Number of calendar days and compensation based on the approved salary schedule and employee work calendarsEvaluation: Evaluation by the Executive Director of Special Services in accordance with BOE PolicyPhysical Demands:Ability to navigate to the various sitesAbility to routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk, or climb stairsAbility to lift up to 20 pounds
