Cultural Arts Program Manger
The Cultural Arts Program Manager is responsible for developing and managing a robust cultural arts initiative that promotes and supports the academic, social, and emotional success of members at Boys and Girls Clubs in Palm Beach County, with the primary concern for high quality programming, driving optimal club experience and service delivery/outcomes for youth ages 5 to 18. This position is involved in selecting, training, and working with the enrichment staff (or supporting these functions, according to the structure of grant-funded programs) and engaging cultural arts organizations as partners. This position will ensure arts instructors are fully equipped to deliver programs in the arts. The Cultural Arts Program Manager will help create programmatic budgets, monitor spending, and measure impact, including members’ interpersonal gains and increased skills. This position will guide the assimilation of cultural arts programming into the club environment in partnership with Club staff, cultural arts staff, and community arts partners. The Cultural Arts Program Manager will engage club staff in helping to identify members’ interests and programmatic gaps as a means to inform the strategic design of the Club-wide arts initiatives. Art forms will include music, dance, visual, drama, and writing, photography, digital media, recording studio among others.Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities)Assist in selection and training of cultural arts Program Assistants and Enhancement Instructors, or work with grant-funded project directors to support these activities.Cultivate relationships with local arts organizations, including cultural destinations and instructional centers to enhance BGCPBC programs through the acquisition of new resources (revenue, Club- or partner-based programs, volunteers, materials, etc.).Build strategic partnerships that raise the visibility of BGCPBC as a provider of quality arts programming.Maintain knowledge of current research regarding evidence-informed, best-practice approaches to arts programming in an after-school environment serving at-risk youth, with focus on programs that promote the healthy development of the whole child.Research potential grant opportunities and/or corporate sponsorships to sustain and grow in the cultural arts programs. Support the development of grant proposals upon request.Complete grant reports. Program Development And OversightMonitor program implementation at all Clubs, working with staff and ensuring program fidelity and consistency.Support and monitor the integration of community arts partners within Clubs.Develop Cultural Arts curriculum and Integrate BGCA arts programs, as applicable.Work with VP of Programs to design outcome measurement framework, oversee use of tools, and work closely with BGCPBC leadership to collect, report and analyze data.Participate in BGCPBC-wide continuous improvement by monitoring quality of program delivery, reviewing planned versus actual outputs and outcomes and modifying activities as appropriate.Promote members’ outcomes and share artworks, as part of departmental meetings and/or for marketing purposes.Manage and maintain learning lab lessons and skill acquisition for members in the digital media centers and recording studios, to provide teen members with badges and micro-credentials.Arrange for Clubs to participate in community events, as appropriate.Showcase art works, including preparing performances for BGCPBC events, Club-based presentations, community events, funder visits, and other audiences.Procure and secure art materials across all Clubs.Participate in regular meetings with cultural arts staff.Provide guidance and assist with other BGCPBC activities and events as assigned.Participate in staff meetings as required.Perform other duties that may be assigned to meet the needs of the Boys & Girls Clubs. RelationshipsInternal: Maintain close, daily contact with volunteers, staff, and supervisor to receive/provide information and discuss issues.External: Maintain contact and build relationships with community groups, schools’ external staff and volunteers, donors and others to recruit or to assist in resolving challenges. Identify, recruit and steward Club Advisory Board members. Skills & Knowledge RequiredBA degree from accredited college in arts or arts education preferable.At least 3 years of experience in planning and implementing youth arts and cultural programs.Proven experience in developing arts curriculum for innovative programming.Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for co-occurring projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision.Experience working with at-risk youth.A strong personal commitment to BGCPBC’s mission and vision.Energetic collaborator skilled in building and facilitating relationships.Ability to maintain and analyze data and effectively compile and write outcome reports.Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.Strong program monitoring skills.Knowledge of new approaches to arts/education for high-risk youth.Knowledge of technology as a platform for arts programs.Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in student, staff, families, and management matters.Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills with both large groups and individuals are essential.Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstancesPhysical Requirements/Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
