Software Engineer

Chargebacks911 is a fast-growing global FinTech based in Clearwater, FL. Our Software Engineering team is building systems that solve everything related to the growing problem of Chargebacks & Credit Card Disputes. We believe that great engineers are not defined by the logos on their résumé, but by their ability to reason about systems, read and write code fluently, and adapt quickly as tools change. With modern AI-assisted development, judgment, architectural taste, and sheer reps of programming matter more than memorizing frameworks. The Role We are looking for Senior Software Engineers—engineers who can drop into any team, understand the problem space quickly, and make meaningful contributions regardless of the specific technology in use. You may work across frontend, backend, and infrastructure boundaries depending on the needs of the business. React on the frontend and Node.js or PHP on the backend are common in our stack today, but experience with those exact tools is a plus, not a requirement. This role is ideal for engineers who have: Written a lot of code Read even more code Refactored systems that were already in production Developed a strong sense for what good looks like What You’ll Do Design, build, and evolve production software systems with a focus on clarity, scalability, and maintainability Quickly ramp into unfamiliar codebases, frameworks, or languages and contribute effectively Make sound architectural decisions and articulate tradeoffs clearly Collaborate across teams, providing technical leadership without rigid ownership boundaries Use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot) as force multipliers—not crutches Review code with a focus on correctness, simplicity, and long-term cost Help raise the engineering bar through example, feedback, and mentorship What We’re Looking For Must-Haves 7+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent reps) Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and codebases quickly Strong fundamentals in software design, data structures, and system architecture Proven experience working in large or long-lived codebases Excellent code reading skills—you understand code you didn’t write Comfort working across the stack, even if you have a primary strength Openness to and comfort with AI-assisted development tools Clear written and verbal communication skills Nice-to-Haves (Not Required) Experience with React, Node.js, or PHP Experience in FinTech, large scale financial systems or enterprise data sets Experience scaling systems under real-world constraints Prior technical leadership or mentorship experience How We Think About Engineering Taste beats trivia: We care more about why you chose a design than whether you remember an API.
