Job Summary And ResponsibilitiesAs our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staffMonitors and records vital signsAssists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needsAccurately measures, records, and reports intake and outputObtains and records daily weightPerforms blood glucose testing using blood glucose meterReports changes in patient’s status promptly to RNPerforms as patient care companion when neededAssists in the admission, transfer and discharge processPerforms unit housekeeping needsActs as a runner/transporterChecks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnelUpdates assigned bed statusMaintains a safe environment by responding to all bed alarms, call lights, telephones and alerting the correct personKeeps patient environment clean, Performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, no food or drink at the workstation, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adheres to patient safety precautionsJob RequirementsRequiredHigh School Graduate General Studies, upon hire orHigh School GED General Studies, upon hire and1-3 years One (1) year direct patient care experienceBasic Life Support - CPR, upon hireWhere You'll WorkWelcome to Continuing Care Hospital, a 25-bed long-term acute care hospital located inside CHI Saint Joseph Hospital.
