Quality Control Tech
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the daily quality of the plant. The Quality Control Technician must always stay in communication with the Quality Control Manager and/or the Production & Plant Manager(s) in cases of failures. This is a physically demanding job and requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, kneel, squat, sit, and stand repetitiously for the entire shift.
Duties and Responsibilities
Follow guidelines for preparing and testing samples
Measure test pieces using a variety of measuring devices including calipers, tape measures, moisture meters, and scales
Must be able to determine when retesting is necessary and maintain communication with management regarding all retests
Must be able to always maintain legible paperwork to record test results
Maintains a safe and clean working environment, complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Must work well with limited supervision
Must be very safety oriented and comply with all company and OSHA regulations
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Troubleshooting quality issues
Daily monitoring of quality and process flow
Data entry of quality results
Required Skills & Experience
Read and write in English.
Reliable individual with an excellent time and attendance record
Proficient in basic math skills
Proficient in the use of basic tools and measuring devices
Proficient in basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word)
Excellent written and verbal communication
High attention to detail and organization
Creative problem solver
Positive attitude with a track record of delivering results
Self-motivated with a strong ability to multitask and operate with minimal supervision
Capable of lifting at least 50 pounds, kneeling, squatting, and standing repetitiously
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Skills & Experience
Previous experience in quality control or quality assurance
Previous experience in lumber manufacturing
