Payroll Specialist III
Welcome!The Payroll Specialist III is a senior-level administrative role responsible for the end-to-end execution, auditing, and reconciliation of complex multi-state payroll cycles. This role requires specialized expertise in managing simultaneous pay frequencies (Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly) and a deep understanding of the unique compliance requirements for both hourly/non-exempt and salaried/exempt populations using Workday.Key ResponsibilitiesMulti-Frequency Processing: Lead the full-cycle execution of multiple payroll runs, including weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly frequencies, ensuring 100% accuracy and strict deadline adherence. Complex Workforce Management: Manage payroll calculations for a diverse workforce, including overtime calculations for hourly employees and pro-rated earnings/deductions for salaried staff. Workday Auditing & Reconciliation: Execute rigorous pre- and post-payroll audits within Workday to validate time-entry accuracy for hourly staff and salary adjustments for exempt employees. Workday Troubleshooting: Act as the internal expert for resolving Workday-specific issues related to pay groups, period schedules, and retroactive pay calculations. Compliance & Tax: Ensure adherence to FLSA regulations regarding overtime pay, shift differentials, and minimum wage for hourly staff across multiple jurisdictions. Reporting & Analysis: Use Workday Report Writer to create comparative audits across different pay cycles to ensure total labor costs are reconciled with Finance. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR and Department Managers to resolve complex time-tracking discrepancies or salary change issues. Required QualificationsExperience: 4+ years of hands-on payroll experience, with a proven track record of managing both hourly and salaried payrolls. System Expertise: Minimum 2 years of direct experience with Workday Payroll, specifically managing different pay groups and frequencies. Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) for reconciling large datasets across different pay periods. Regulation Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of multi-state tax laws and FLSA requirements for both exempt and non-exempt classifications. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or HR (or equivalent experience). Preferred QualificationsCertified Payroll Professional (CPP). Experience with Workday Time Tracking and Absence Management modules. Experience processing off-cycle or manual checks for immediate terminations.
