Seasonal - Engineering Aide

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSUses range pole or level rod to establish vertical and horizontal control.Sets grade stakes for construction projects.Inspects various construction projects for compliance with plans and specifications.Reads, interprets and understands construction plans and specifications.Maintains effective communication with the contractor, public and other employees.Performs basic engineering calculations and functions.Operates a motor vehicle.Maintains accurate notes and records.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONSPerforms miscellaneous inspection related tasks.Performs maintenance on vehicles and equipment.Performs miscellaneous survey related tasks.Operates a City vehicle.Ability to traverse construction sites to perform inspection duties.Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and functions.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Ability to perform manual labor under varying weather conditions.Ability to deal with the public in a courteous manner.Must be able to provide own steel toed shoes.Must possess a valid driver's license.Must be at least eighteen years of age.WORK SCHEDULE:Hours per day: 8Specific hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Days per week: 5Hours per week: 40+EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: May 15 - September 1WORK LOCATIONS:Municipal Services Building, 2625 E.
