Position Summary The Rear Load Driver is responsible for servicing residential routes, often working alongside helpers to manually collect waste. This role requires physical endurance, strong coordination, and the ability to maintain pace and efficiency in high-volume residential environments. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate strong vehicle control, including backing, turning, and maneuvering in tight or congested environments Comply with all applicable DOT, OSHA, and company safety policies and procedures Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections Utilize safe backing procedures, including coordination with helpers Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment issues immediately Complete routes safely, on time, and in accordance with service and productivity expectations Maintain route pace in high-volume environments Follow route sheets and dispatcher instructions Ensure helpers follow safe work practices and company procedures while on route Work closely with helpers to collect and load waste into the truck Assist with loading waste when needed Ensure safe coordination with helpers, especially during backing operations Provide courteous service to residential customers Ensure streets and collection areas are left clean and free of debris Report service issues or missed pickups Represent the company professionally at all times while in the field Operate packer controls and loading mechanisms safely Identify and report unacceptable or hazardous waste Complete DVIRs, route sheets, and required documentation Maintain communication with dispatch throughout the shift Drivers are responsible for safe execution of their duties. The Safety Department provides training, standards, and oversight. Drivers must follow all safety procedures and actively participate in training.
