Line Foreman

Job Summary The Lineman Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising crews engaged in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical distribution and transmission systems. This role ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with extensive line work experience, strong safety awareness, and the ability to drive high-quality execution in the field. Key Responsibilities Supervision & Leadership Lead, supervise, and mentor a crew of linemen performing overhead line construction, maintenance, and repair activities. Provide clear direction and oversight to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. Promote a strong safety culture and hold crew members accountable to company and regulatory standards. Work Planning & Coordination Coordinate daily work activities with project managers, engineers, and operations personnel. Assign tasks based on crew skill level, experience, and job requirements. Ensure materials, tools, equipment, and resources are available to meet project schedules. Safety Compliance Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Conduct tailgate meetings, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and field safety inspections. Identify hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risk. Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices at all times. Quality Assurance Oversee construction and maintenance activities to ensure work meets quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements. Perform inspections and verify workmanship prior to project completion or energization. Training & Development Train, coach, and develop crew members to improve technical skills, safety awareness, and productivity. Support apprentice and journeyman development and progression. Equipment & Fleet Oversight Ensure tools, vehicles, and equipment are properly inspected, maintained, and operated. Coordinate repairs or replacements to minimize downtime and ensure safe operation. Customer & Stakeholder Interaction Communicate professionally with customers, landowners, utilities, and other stakeholders. Represent the company in a professional manner at all times. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, equipment inspections, and field documentation. Complete required reports, work orders, and compliance documentation. Emergency Response Respond to emergency situations such as outages, storm damage, or system failures. Coordinate crews and resources to restore service safely and efficiently. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, productivity, and cost control. Implement best practices and lessons learned across crews and projects. Qualifications and Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a recognized lineman training program strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a lineman in the electrical utility or powerline industry. Demonstrated leadership experience in a foreman or supervisory role. Strong knowledge of overhead electrical distribution and transmission systems. Thorough understanding of safety practices and regulatory requirements for high-voltage line work. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet project deadlines. Holds a Journeyman Electrical Distribution Systems License, including Transmission Lines (EL-1J), or equivalent. Valid CDL Class A or B driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required Ability to successfully pass a background check, pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check. Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including remote or rugged terrain. Ability to work extended hours, rotating schedules, or emergency call-outs as required. Work Environment This position is primarily field-based and performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. This is a full-time position with work hours that may vary based on operational and project needs. Physical Demands The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role: Prolonged standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and manual handling of tools and materials. Ability to climb poles, ladders, and structures and work at elevated heights. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Ability to work in physically demanding and hazardous environments. Travel Regular travel within a designated service area is expected, with occasional extended travel as required.
