In short, we build solutions that set the benchmark for steam utilization worldwide.Position SummaryThe Pipe Fitter supports ESMU fabrication operations by performing pipe preparation, material handling, and general production support activities. This role is designed to keep skilled welders and pipe fitters focused on high-value fabrication and welding work by absorbing prep, staging, and auxiliary tasks that routinely interrupt production flow.Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesPipe Preparation & Fabrication SupportPrepare pipe for fabrication and welding, including cutting, grinding, cleaning, beveling, and basic fit-up assistanceThread pipe using hand or machine methods (½” to 2”)Assist other pipe fitters with layout, assembly, and bolting activitiesDismantle and remove existing pipe or assemblies as requiredSupport fabrication of pipe spools, supports, and sub-assembliesProduction & Shop SupportAssist with hydrostatic testing activities, including setup and teardownAssist with paint prep, cleaning, masking, and finishing supportTransport materials and assemblies throughout the facility using appropriate material-handling equipmentPerform general shop support tasks to reduce production interruptions and improve workflow efficiencySafety, Quality & HousekeepingComply with all safety, environmental, and quality requirementsMaintain 5S / 6S standards in assigned work areasUse required personal protective equipment (PPE) and always follow safe work practicesPerform additional duties as assigned to support operational needsEducation, Experience & SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrior experience in fabrication, pipe work, construction, or industrial manufacturing preferredAbility to read and interpret basic drawings and layoutAbility to read measuring tools and follow work instructions accuratelyFamiliarity with hand tools and basic shop equipmentDemonstrated ability to work safely in a manufacturing environmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, bend, stoop, and move materials throughout the work shiftAbility to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistanceAbility to work in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to noise, equipment, and industrial conditionsAbout UsSteam Thermal Solutions is one of four businesses within Spirax Group, with global coverage across 67 operating units.
