Elementary English Language Arts (ELA) TeacherPosition SummaryThe Elementary English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in reading, writing, language, and literacy development for elementary students. The teacher will create an engaging, student-centered learning environment that promotes academic growth, critical thinking, and a love of literacy while aligning instruction to state standards and school goals.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts, including reading, writing, grammar, speaking, listening, and literacy development.Develop and adapt lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to meet the diverse learning needs of students.Provide differentiated instruction through whole-group, small-group, and individualized learning experiences.Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction.Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and behavior, including report cards and progress reports.Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment aligned with school-wide positive behavior expectations, reinforcements, and discipline procedures.Collaborate with colleagues, intervention staff, and administrators to support student learning and academic success.Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, academic performance, and classroom expectations.Participate in professional learning communities, staff meetings, curriculum development, and professional development activities.Administer district and state assessments in accordance with school and state guidelines.Integrate instructional technology to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.Supervise students during assigned duties, including recess, arrival/dismissal, lunch, and other school activities.Serve as a positive role model and uphold professional and ethical standards at all times.Participate in school events, family engagement activities, conferences, and other extracurricular responsibilities as assigned.Serve as an exemplar of professional behavior and practices in all activities.Qualifications Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Education or a related field.Valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate elementary endorsement/authorization.Knowledge of elementary literacy instruction, curriculum development, and instructional best practices.Ability to analyze student data and use assessment results to inform instruction.Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Education or a related field.Experience teaching elementary English Language Arts.Experience implementing standards-based instruction and data-driven practices.Familiarity with intervention strategies, differentiated instruction, and MTSS frameworks.Experience integrating educational technology into classroom instruction.Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary for successful performance of the essential functions of this position.Frequent standing and walking throughout the workday.Occasional sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and classroom supplies up to 25 pounds.Frequent use of hands and arms for instructional and clerical tasks.Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing.Visual and auditory ability sufficient to supervise students and deliver instruction effectively.
