Research Financial Analyst

About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Research Financial Analyst to support academic research programs in a dynamic university environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong financial analysis skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and prior experience working within an academic or research setting. Key Responsibilities Partner with Principal Investigators to prepare administrative components of research proposals in compliance with sponsored and non-sponsored guidelines Develop, analyze, and manage project budgets, including detailed budget justifications Coordinate and manage proposal submissions (electronic and paper), ensuring accuracy and compliance Serve as a liaison between faculty, research teams, and the Office of Sponsored Research Review and approve project expenditures while ensuring adherence to funding and revenue policies Provide financial reporting, forecasting, and decision-making support for ongoing projects Manage cost transfers, award setup coordination, and contract closeout processes Support audit requests by compiling and organizing required documentation Interpret and apply university and government policies related to research funding Contribute to process improvements and provide guidance on financial best practices Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (required), preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field 2–3 years of experience in a financial or analyst role Prior experience working in an academic or research environment (required) Strong financial analysis and budgeting experience Advanced Excel skills with the ability to identify trends and insights Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Strong communication and stakeholder management skills xywuqvp What We’re Looking For Someone who can analyze financial data and support decision-making Ability to work cross-functionally with faculty and internal teams High attention to detail with a strong focus on compliance and accuracy A proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities Why This Role?
