3rd Shift Maintanance Mechanic

THIS POSITION REQUIRES A VALID STATIONARY ENGINEER'S LICENSE***Position DescriptionMaintain production facility and equipment, with a Safety-minded attitude that maintains and enhances a Safety-culture for the benefit of the Company and its employees, to insure safe and quality products by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment; and providing support to equipment such as HV/AC, boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration system, blenders, processing and packaging equipment.Primary ResponsibilitiesEnsures operation of plant machinery utilizing both electrical and mechanical skills to troubleshoot equipment and completing preventive maintenance requirementsControls downtime by ascertaining needed repairs and parts replacement, and completing repairs in timely fashionFabricates repair parts by machining items to specification as necessaryProvides mechanical maintenance information by informing production workers of routine techniques, answering questions, and responding to requestsMaintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and updating certified skill levelsMaintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulationsContributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned and neededSupervisory/Management ResponsibilitiesNot ApplicableRequirementsHigh school graduate or equivalentStationary Engineer’s License; City of Chicago Stationary Engineer’s License preferredAble to effectively communicate with all levels of management and staffBilingual preferredMinimum three to five years related maintenance experienceBroad knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, AC drives, and PLCsProficient electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of GMP, HACCP and USDA regulations preferredValid state driver’s licenseAble to work overtime and weekends as neededPhysical RequirementsAble to lift in excess of 50 pounds on a regular basisAble to tolerate extreme temperaturesAble to operate variety of hand and power tools on a frequent, daily basisAble to frequently climb, crouch, kneel and crawl to service variety of equipmentBe able to work in confined spacesEmployment Type: Full TimeYears Experience: 3 - 5 yearsBonus/Commission: No
