Deputy Constable

JOB The Deputy Constable for Smith County Precinct 1 Constable's Office was created to assist in the service of civil process in the evening hours, patrolling the precinct, answering calls, assisting local agencies and enforcing state law.Precinct 1 Constable's Office is very committed to our community, and we are looking for an individual to add to our team that will give 100% service to our citizens.Working hours will fluctuate Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 8:00pm, and some weekends to help assist. Incentives include paid TCOLE training, furnished uniforms, patrol duty vehicles (with in Smith County limits) and furnished assigned office equipment.This position will be available starting on 10/01/2025 EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Serve Civil Process Documents issued by the JP Court, County Court, and District Court.Serves as a bailiff to the Smith County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace while court is in session as needed.Patrols Precinct 1 and provides law enforcement services to the citizens. Answers 9-1-1 calls for service and assist other local agencies.Inspect residential neighborhoods and businesses for activity to prevent theft and burglary. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION High School Diploma or G.E.D. Minimum of 3 years in law enforcement.Licenses and CertificationsLicensed Texas Peace Officer through Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Intermediate Peace Officer Certification preferred but not required.Must have a valid Texas Driver License.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentMust be able to stand for long periods of time.Must be able to physically subdue violent criminals.
