We steward precious resources by finding more sustainable solutions.Job SummaryTYLin is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to lead traffic operations-style projects at major transportation hubs in the New York City region. This person would lead a team of engineers to support traffic operations on large-scale projects and facilities. Services to be provided include designing and providing oversight of various traffic facilities and transportation infrastructure including roadway signs and striping, parking facilities, loading facilities, curbside frontages, and more. This individual would serve as the lead of projects, coordinating with clients, stakeholders, facility staff and more. They would also be responsible for maintaining safety and advancing agency and client interests. This person may be requested to serve as an extension of staff, potentially with regular on-site time required at local facilities or agency offices.Responsibilities & QualificationsPrimary ResponsibilitiesThe selected individual will perform various transportation engineering and planning tasks, such as:* Leading a team to develop creative solutions to transportation challenges at large and complex regional transportation hubs.* Providing guidance, oversight, and final review of traffic engineering designs for signing, striping, signals, and more* Overseeing safety and state of good repair for transportation infrastructure for agency facilities* Collaborating with and presenting to agency officials, including non-engineering/planning stakeholders* Prioritizing, defining, and delegating client requests to internal and various external consultant teams* Managing and working within project and facility budgets* Understanding and interpreting data analytics to make informed decisions, develop recommendations, and propose solutions* Coordinating with on-site construction projects to maintain facility safety while delivering excellent customer service and user experience* Staying up to date on the latest trends in transportation technology and mobility servicesSkills and QualificationsIdeal candidates will possess the following qualities:* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment* Ability to anticipate and represent client needs and interests* Ability to interpret/synthesize data of disparate sources into a cohesive singular perspective* Experience managing transportation projects, including management of staff, budgets, and clientsExpert level fluency using standard transportation engineering technical manuals and procedures including the MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, HCM, CEQR Technical ManualFamiliarity with industry standard sign design software* Familiarity with Synchro, VISSIM, and HCS with knowledge about program inputs, outputs, and limitations* Familiarity with pedestrian and transit analyses, with knowledge of analysis inputs, outputs, and limitations* Flexibility to work at the project site and during non-standard business hours occasionallyRequirementsCandidates must meet the following requirements:* At least 10 years of experience in the transportation engineering industry* Degree in civil or transportation engineering, urban planning, or related field* PE required, preferably in the state of New York or New Jersey. PTOE a plus* Valid United States driver's license* Experience working with public agencies on large-scale transportation infrastructure projects* Project management skills and experience* Must be authorized to work in the United StatesAdditional InformationTYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $117,600- $176,400 annually for this position and local market.
