Job Title: Restaurant Maintenance TechnicianPosition SummaryThe Restaurant Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining all equipment, systems, and physical assets within a single McDonald's restaurant. This role ensures the restaurant operates safely, efficiently, and without interruption by proactively maintaining equipment and quickly resolving issues that impact operations, food safety, or the guest experience.As part of a people-first organization, this role supports self-aware leaders in creating consistent, well-run restaurants that deliver genuine hospitality, ensuring every guest and team member feels valued. Reliable equipment and a well-maintained facility are critical to creating these experiences.At BFRMcDonald's We invest in our people by providing the tools, support, and environment needed to succeed and grow.Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance & RepairMaintain and repair core kitchen equipment including:Grills and clamshell systemsFryers and filtration systemsRefrigeration (walk-in coolers/freezers, reach-ins)Beverage and ABS systemsIce machines and shake machinesTroubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and minor plumbing issuesCoordinate with approved service vendors for major repairsPreventive MaintenanceExecute daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance routinesFollow McDonald's equipment maintenance guidelines and checklistsIdentify early signs of equipment failure and address proactivelyMaintain service logs and ensure documentation is up to dateFacilities & Building UpkeepMaintain interior and exterior of the restaurant including:Lighting (interior, exterior, parking lot)Plumbing fixtures and restroomsHVAC system monitoring and basic maintenanceDining room, kitchen, and back-of-house structurePerform minor repairs (doors, tiles, ceilings, seals, etc.)Safety & ComplianceEnsure all equipment operates within food safety and operational standardsFollow OSHA guidelines and McDonald's safety protocolsImmediately address hazards that could impact crew or customersSupport readiness for inspections (health, safety, brand standards)Operational SupportPrioritize repairs that impact peak operations (breakfast, lunch, dinner)Communicate clearly with the General Manager on equipment statusMinimize downtime to protect sales and service timesSupport equipment setup, calibration, and basic crew guidance when neededQualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent2+ years of hands-on maintenance experience (restaurant or commercial preferred)Working knowledge of:Electrical systems (basic wiring, breakers)Plumbing repairsMechanical troubleshootingAbility to work independently within a fast-paced environmentPreferredExperience in a quick-service restaurant (QSR), especially McDonald'sHVAC or refrigeration experienceEPA certification (refrigerant handling)Skills & CompetenciesStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilitySense of urgency-understands operational impact of equipment downtimeHigh accountability and ownership of the building and equipmentAbility to prioritize tasks based on business needsClear communication with non-technical team membersPhysical RequirementsLift up to 50 lbsFrequent bending, climbing ladders, and working in tight spacesAbility to work in hot kitchen environments and outdoor conditionsAvailability for early morning or off-hours maintenance (as needed)Work EnvironmentSingle restaurant locationFast-paced, high-volume QSR environmentExposure to heat, grease, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipmentBenefits & CompensationCompetitive SalaryHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holidays401(k) or retirement planUniforms and tools providedOngoing training and development opportunitiesOpportunity to grow within a people-first organizationPerformance ExpectationsEquipment uptime meets or exceeds operational standardsPreventive maintenance completed on scheduleMinimal disruption to restaurant operationsStrong inspection readiness (food safety and brand standards)Positive working relationship with restaurant leadershipContribute to an environment where teams can perform at a high level and create "WOW moments" for guests and crewBy applying to this position, I understand that I am applying to work at a restaurant that is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, not McDonald's USA.
