Design DrafterDesign • Willmar, MNThe PositionThe Design Drafter is responsible for assisting Architects, Project Designers, Sales, Estimating, Project Management and Field Operations in creating presentation drawings, design drawings, construction drawings, shop/fabrication drawings, and project documents. Design Drafter will work from sketches, models, and written and verbal information supplied by sales personnel, designers, and engineers, to determine the most appropriate views, details, and supplementary information needed to complete projects.Essential DutiesProducing detailed drawings based on specifications.Following established design standards.Supporting the design team with technical documentationDetail parts and create shop drawings for fabrication from engineering designs and project notesPrepare approval drawings, revisions, and installation/erection drawingsDevelop construction details that comply with the overall design intent and project budgetEnsure designs comply with company regulations and quality industry standardsPrepare complete and concise design and construction drawings, check and coordinate details and dimensionsEnsure ongoing review and verify documents are accurate and completeAssist in the verification of submittals and respond to requests for informationPrepare shop drawings using Autodesk Inventor for the fabrication of metal partsSupport construction projects with Revit & Auto CAD softwareCollaborate with project personnel to facilitate projectsSupport non-Revit users with AutoCAD file creation and maintenance from Revit, 2D and 3D filesPosition Qualifications and Experience Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Drafting and Design or related field OR12 months of related experience preferredKnowledge of one or more software preferred:Autodesk InventorSolidWorksAutodesk AutoCADAutodesk RevitBluebeamProcore Preferred Skills (not required) Ability to read and understand architectural & structural construction documentsAble to read and interpret construction drawings (plans, elevations, sections, details, etc.)Basic knowledge and ability to follow design codesAble to create drawings and models from written and verbal specificationsDetailed understanding of all facets of project owner specifications and engineering drawings/ blueprintsFluency in reading 2D and 3D plans, electronically or hard copyWorking knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, MS Word, Excel, and OutlookStrong interpersonal skills Physical Demands/Working Environment: The physical demands listed here represent those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Exposure to dirt, dust, and other materials is routine and may require protective clothing and respirators. In addition, employee must be able to move around prospective or current project sites.
