Test Lab Engineer

OverviewFiltran is seeking a test lab technician in their engineering department.The test lab technician is responsible for supporting Automotive Filtration product testing by setting up, executing, monitoring, and documenting laboratory tests.This role ensures that all testing is performed accurately, safely, and in compliance with internal procedures, customer specifications, and industry standards.The technician will work closely with engineers and quality teams to validate product performance and reliability.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate laboratory test equipment for evaluation of automotive filtration products (oil, transmission, fuel, hydraulic filters, etc.)Conduct performance, durability, and validation testing according to established procedures and engineering specificationsMonitor tests, record accurate data, and identify abnormalities or deviationsPerform routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab equipmentPrepare test samples, fixtures, and instrumentation as requiredCompile, analyze, and document test results in reports and databasesAssist engineers with test development, validation protocols, and continuous improvement initiativesFollow all lab safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policiesMaintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace (5S standards)Support root cause analysis and failure investigations when requiredQualificationsQualifications/Education:BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automotive Technology , Electronics Technology or related field.Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automotive Technology, Electronics Technology, Hydraulics or related field.Experience:1–3 years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or automotive testing environment preferred.Experience with filtration testing or fluid systems is a plus.Technical Skills:Familiarity with automotive systems and componentsAbility to operate test equipment, sensors, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation.Basic understanding of test methods, engineering drawings, and specificationsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word Power Point ) for data entry and reportingExperience with data logging or lab software is an advantageSoft Skills:Strong attention to detail and accuracyGood problem-solving and troubleshooting abilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong organizational and time-management skillsEffective communication skills (written and verbal)Physical Requirements:Ability to stand for extended periods in a lab environmentCapability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionallyComfortable working around mechanical equipment, fluids, and test rigsWork Environment:Laboratory setting with exposure to automotive fluids, test equipment, and noiseMay require use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)Preferred Qualifications:Experience with ISO/TS (IATF 16949) automotive quality standardsKnowledge of filtration testing standards (ISO, SAE, OEM-specific tests)Basic mechanical assembly, fabrication skills work with Power tools…etc.More About Filtration GroupFiltration Group is on a mission to make a positive impact on the world by providing mission-critical filtration solutions that are designed to enable advanced healthcare capabilities, provide clean air, and drive productivity.
