Our team operates at the intersection of healthcare and technology, translating breakthrough research into real-world, safety-critical systems.DevOps Engineer — Platform & InfrastructureLocation: Brooklyn, New YorkWork Arrangement: 3–4 days onsiteType: Full-timeAbout The RoleSynchron is seeking a DevOps Engineer to build and maintain the infrastructure that supports our brain-computer interface platform.In this role, you will help design and operate the systems used to develop, test, and deploy software across cloud, desktop, and device environments. Our platform supports live patient sessions, neuroscience research workflows, and internal engineering tools, making reliability and operational visibility critical.You will work closely with software, systems, data science, hardware, and clinical teams to build scalable infrastructure, improve deployment workflows, and ensure that software and firmware can be safely delivered and operated in production environments.This is an opportunity to help shape the infrastructure behind technology that directly impacts the lives of people living with neurological conditions.Key ResponsibilitiesCI/CD & Build InfrastructureDesign and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting software and firmware development.Improve build and release processes for desktop, cloud, and device-related software.Maintain artifact storage, package management, and dependency tracking systems.Infrastructure & Platform EngineeringManage and operate cloud infrastructure supporting Synchron’s platform.Improve system reliability, scalability, and deployment workflows.Develop infrastructure automation and operational tooling.Observability & ReliabilityImplement and maintain logging, monitoring, and performance tracking systems.Improve operational visibility across services and infrastructure.Support incident response and root-cause analysis.Testing & Development InfrastructureBuild and maintain testing environments supporting cloud services, IoT devices, and mobile/desktop applications.Support development workflows for both software and firmware systems.Data Science & Research InfrastructureWork closely with the data science team to support model deployment and analysis pipelines.Help maintain infrastructure used for experimentation, training, and model deployment.Cross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate with Systems, Software, Hardware, Data Science, Quality, and Regulatory teams.Support integration of third-party systems and services.Contribute to platform architecture and infrastructure decisions as the system evolves.Required Qualifications4-6+ years of experience working with CI/CD systems4-6+ years of experience managing services in production cloud infrastructure2-3+ years of experience working with Linux and/or macOS environments2-3+ years of experience working with PythonExperience using Git-based development workflowsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM fieldPreferred QualificationsExperience with GitLab CI/CDExperience with artifact management systems (e.g., JFrog)Experience with static analysis tools (e.g., SonarQube Cloud)Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., AWS CDK)Experience with containerization technologies (Docker)Experience supporting IoT firmware development (e.g., Zephyr, Yocto)Experience supporting mobile or desktop deployment workflows (iOS/macOS)Experience working with AI-assisted or agent-driven development workflowsCompensationThe base salary range for this role is $145,000 – $175,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and/or equity grants, subject to board approval and company policy.Visa Sponsorship We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position at this time.Benefits (for W-2, full-time, exempt employees in the US only) ***Intern positions not eligibleSubsidized medical and dental insurance coverage for you and your dependent(s) Life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability 401k Discretionary unlimited PTO Flexible Spending Account for you and your dependent(s), with eligible plan electionsCommuter benefits for NY employeesEqual Employment Opportunity (EEO) Synchron is an equal opportunity employer.
